EINDHOVEN, 22 JANUARY 2026 — Carbyon announces a leadership transition to strengthen the company in its next phase. Reinier Zoomers, formerly Chief Financial Officer, has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer. Founder and former CEO Hans De Neve will stay at Carbyon in his new role as Principal Scientist.
After helping shape Carbyon as CFO and working closely with the team through key moments, Reinier is exceptionally well positioned to lead Carbyon into our next phase. At the same time, our founder Hans will focus even more deeply on technology and product in his new role as Principal Scientist — advancing the core innovations that make our impact possible. This shift allows each of us to contribute where we can create the greatest long-term value for the climate and for our partners.
Since founding the company, Hans has been the driving force in shaping Carbyon’s vision, culture, and technology:
“It was my pleasure as founder of Carbyon to lead the company during the first 6 years, and now the time has come for a new person to take over and bring Carbyon to the next level. I have full confidence in Reinier for the task ahead and I am still excited to continue as Principal Scientist to help Carbyon to find its way forward. I will not rest until we found the solution to stop global warming. That is a promise."
Reinier Zoomers joined Carbyon as CFO in 2024 and has been instrumental in driving the company’s operational and financial growth.
“I’m honored to step into the CEO role and continue building on the strong foundation we’ve created together with the team,” said Reinier Zoomers. “Hans’ ongoing focus on technology ensures that innovation remains at the heart of everything we do.”
The leadership transition reflects Carbyon’s commitment to aligning expertise with impact as the company enters its next phase. The company’s purpose, vision and mission remain unchanged.
